  • Green Party responds to Stephen Colbert's repeat of the "spoiler" myth, urges Colbert to invite Greens to appear on his show

Why did Gore lose in 2000? Because 13% of Florida Democrats voted for Bush, GOP vote obstruction in Florida, and a biased Supreme Court ruling

WASHINGTON, D.C. -- The Green Party responded to Stephen Colbert's repeat of the "Nader spoiled" accusation during the Wednesday, May 18 broadcast of "The Late Show" on CBS, chiding the talk-show host for parroting a baseless Democratic Party propaganda myth.

  • Joseph DeMare — Green Party environmentalist hopes to leave factory job to push social, economic justice in U.S. Senate

A factory job isn’t ideal for a politician who cares more about the environment than industry.

“Like most people, I have to make decisions to put food on the table for my family,” said Joseph DeMare, Ohio’s Green Party candidate for U.S. Senate. “But I do console myself in that some of our products go into making solar panels.”

With a master’s degree in education, DeMare is one of the most educated machinists in Perrysburg. “I did teach middle school for a little while. But it turns out it takes a special person to teach middle school and handle children. And I found out I’m not that special so I ended up as a machinist,” DeMare, 54, said of taking a job in his wife’s family business, which produces large sheets of glass for the ceramics industry.

  • Green Party endorses March for Our Lives in Philadelphia on July 25 during the Democratic convention

WASHINGTON, D.C. -- The Green Party has endorsed a march organized by the Poor People's Economic Human Rights Campaign (PPEHRC) in Philadaphia on July 25, the opening day of the Democratic National Convention ( https://march4ourlives2016.org ).

Cheri Honkala, leader and co-founder of PPEHRC, was the Green Party's vice-presidential candidate in 2012, running with nominee Jill Stein. Ms. Honkala, a long-time activist, used her campaign to give the poor, homeless, and jobless a voice during the election year.

  • US Senate Candidate Joe DeMare looks at recent SOS analysis of the March Primary

The Ohio Secretary of State just released a very interesting analysis of the primary election results. They tracked the voters that switched parties. For us Greens, there was some bad news and lots of good news. First, the bad news. The targeted marketing that the Democrats did to already registered Greens seems to have worked. Approximately half the people who were registered Green before the primary jumped to the Democrats presumably to vote for Bernie. Now the good news. For every Green who became a Dem, three new voters who were previously unaffiliated switched to Green. Also, almost half as many Dems switched to Green as Greens switched to Dems. Over all, we almost doubled in size.

Unfortunately for the Dems, they were clobbered by Dems switching to Republican.

  • Green Party of Ohio urges inclusive debates

Columbus OH: (5-18-16) The Green Party of Ohio is calling for the inclusion of our candidate for United States Senate, Joseph DeMare, be included in the debates that have been agreed to by the other candidates in the race, incumbent Senator Rob Portman and Democratic contender, former Governor Ted Strickland.

We remind the Democratic and Republican Parties that, to benefit the electorate, all candidates have the right to be heard, to present their case on an equal footing.

The primaries have ended; the nominees for all three recognized parties in Ohio have been chosen. It is vital that Ohio voters hear all the voices and have the ability to make an informed decision as to how they will vote in November.
