I am a political science student with a passion for making the world around me a better place.
I support and stand behind each of the Green Party's Values. When I was younger, I once took a test that was designed to tell me which political party I was most aligned with value-wise. My result was the Green Party. I didn't think much of it at the time, but as I have gotten older, I've realized that my result on that test was no mistake, and that the Green Party shares my values very accurately.
While I stand behind each of the 10 Key Values of the Green Party, the one that I am most-passionate about championing is the 4th value (using the order listed here on the Ohio Green Party website), the value of Non-Violence.
My passion for this value is long-standing, but it intensified about a year ago. I was with some friends of mine, and while I was talking to one friend about books and things like that, our other friends were talking about ways to harm people with their bare hands, bragging on about how "cool" that was.
It was then that it really dawned on me how deep-seeded the culture of violence is here in America, and across the world. I believe that the cultural acceptance and embracing of violence is something that has to end if we want a truly peace-loving nation. This love of violence is instilled through media and entertainment, but when the love of violence is removed from the hearts of many, it can be replaced by the love of one another, the love of nature, and the love of our world as a whole. When anger, violence and hate go away, love in all its wonderful forms may take its place.
