Green Party of Ohio Senate candidate Joe DeMare and House candidates Joe Manchik and Derrick James Hendricks have announced their full support for the legislative agenda laid out by presumptive Green Party of the United States Presidential nominee Dr. Jill Stein.
Dr. Stein’s “Power to the People Plan” lays out an ambitious agenda including: moving to a 100% renewable energy economy by 2030; creating living wage jobs for every American who needs them; and establishing a universal, single payer public health care system. The complete plan can be found here: http://www.jill2016.com/plan.
“Jill is going to need allies in the Congress to make her legislative priorities a reality,” said Mr. DeMare, “I will be there for her, on the Senate floor, arguing for the necessity of policies like the total forgiveness of student loans, banning fracking, and cutting the military budget in half.”
Mr. Manchik added, “We can accomplish this monumental and historic task for the American people through the introduction of legislation simultaneously in the U.S. House and in the U.S. Senate to get the corporate money out of politics by reversing the disastrous 2010 Supreme Court Citizens United decision, by enacting new Green legislation that will restore all of the provisions of the Federal Assault Weapons Ban that expired in 2004, and to push for the passage of House Resolution 676, which will provide for a single-payer health care system for all Americans.”
Mr Hendricks said, “One of my biggest goals when elected is to educate and assist people on various issues and to remind everyone that they still matter, to never feel like they don’t, and to most certainly never give up. Jill’s plan is one geared towards helping the average American citizen, not just those who hold the reins of power. Victory will come when we learn to stick together, stand by each other, and keep certain values and constantly educate, challenge and better ourselves.”
In addition, Mr. DeMare and Mr Hendricks will both be appearing with the SW Ohio Green Party and members of Cincinnati for Jill Stein in the March in the Northside 4th of July Parade. Information on the parade can be found at https://www.facebook.com/events/1751974948412946/.
