FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

COLUMBUS, OH – June 24, 2025

COLUMBUS, OH – In an era where democracy’s pulse is both scrutinized and celebrated, the Ohio Green Party is set to host its pivotal Statewide Meeting at the Columbus Metropolitan Library on Saturday, July 19. This gathering promises to be a crucible for change-makers and visionaries determined to redefine our political landscapes through alternative voting methods and robust electoral reforms.

“This isn’t just another meeting; it’s a catalyst for transformation,” said Philena Farley, Co-Chair of the Ohio Green Party. “The attacks against Ranked choice voting in Ohio signals not just a shift in awareness among voters, but also shows that the elite are in panic mode.”

As whispers about Elon Musk possibly starting a new third party reverberate across social media and news platforms, the importance of acknowledging established third parties like the Ohio Green Party becomes ever more pronounced. The meeting will underscore this reality with sessions dedicated to current events affecting the party—from AI surveillance ethics to nuclearism—while emphasizing their unique role in challenging America’s bipartisan monopoly.

The event will kick off at 10:00 AM with welcomes from Philena Farley herself alongside Jason Salley before delving into key topics such as Ranked Choice Voting—a method recently spotlighted during New York’s primary mayoral race yet now under threat of being banned in Ohio. Attendees are anticipating insights from Debbie Schaffner, Regional Organizer for Central Ohio Rank The Vote initiative.

“Third parties aren’t fringe anomalies; they’re vital threads in our nation’s democratic fabric,” said Farley. “It’s essential we champion initiatives like ranked choice voting if we’re serious about evolving beyond the 2party Matrix.”

This event also marks a significant milestone as members prepare strategies for robust ballot access campaigns crucially needed across Ohio—a state historically pivotal yet often stifled under two-party domination since its gubernatorial battles during George Voinovich’s era.
