Ohio Supreme Court hearing to appeal unemployment benefits cut by DeWine May 25th

As many as 300,000 unemployed Ohioans and their families lost Supplemental Unemployment Compensation (UC) from the federal government because of Governor Mike DeWine’s decision to cut these benefits 10 weeks early.

Unemployment is a leading cause of personal bankruptcies, home foreclosures, evictions, repossessions of cars, utility disconnections, the loss of health insurance, and divorces. Ohioans have suffered because of the unemployment cycle that leaves workers and their families out in the cold.  We hope the Ohio Supreme Court makes the right call.

DannLaw is requesting as many people come to the SC hearing as possible. Details listed below. Hope to see you there.

An important reminder and request from DannLaw, and Advocate Attorneys…

As you know, for the past year our legal team has been fighting to restore the supplemental federal unemployment benefits Governor Mike DeWine callously cut off in June of 2021.

After prevailing in the Tenth District Court of Appeals, the legal battle will continue on Wednesday, May 25, 2022, when we present oral arguments to the Ohio Supreme Court on behalf of the hundreds of thousands of people hurt by the governor’s ill-advised and illegal actions.

The hearing is open to the public and it is my sincere hope that many of you will be in the courtroom next Wednesday. I think the justices should see who has been impacted, and in many cases devastated, by the loss of the supplemental benefits.

The Ohio Supreme Court is located at 65 S. Front Street in Columbus, Ohio. Driving directions and the location of nearby parking may be found here: https://www.supremecourt.ohio.gov/MJC/visiting.asp. Court convenes promptly at 9 A.M., observers must be in chambers before the Chief Justice gavels the session to order. Our case is third on the docket.

If you are unable to attend in person, the session will be livestreamed here https://ohiochannel.org/live/supreme-court-of-ohio beginning at 9 A.M. on the 25th.

On behalf of myself, Brian Flick, Emily White, Andy Engel and the entire DannLaw/Advocate Attorneys Legal team, I want to thank the thousands of people who have followed the case on our Facebook page and dannlaw.com. Your unwavering support and encouragement have sustained and strengthened us throughout our crusade for justice.
