Urgent Action on Climate Change as Ohio Faces Extreme Weather Anomalies

COLUMBUS OH – JUNE 17 2024 – In the wake of Ohio’s record-breaking heat and increased tornado activity, we’re urging policymakers to take immediate action to address the climate crisis. Ohio is experiencing a taste of climate change’s impacts firsthand. From scorching summer temperatures to more frequent and destructive tornadoes, these extreme weather events are a wake-up call. “These weather anomalies are not random occurrences; they are symptoms of a warming planet,” says Philena Farley, Ohio Green Party Co-Chair. ” The heat advisory begins at noon Monday and continues through 8 p.m. Friday with heat indexes expected to reach 100 degrees across several days. We cannot afford to ignore the climate crisis any longer.”

The Green Party of the United States urges for:
* Investment in renewable energy and energy efficiency to curb greenhouse gas emissions.
* Stronger policies to reduce reliance on fossil fuels.
* Increased support for communities vulnerable to extreme weather events.

We are committed to working towards a sustainable future for Ohio. We urge policymakers and citizens to take decisive action to combat climate change and protect our communities.
